The main task of the group is to manufacture mechanical parts and devices for the scientific research groups and for teaching purposes.

Equipment

Metal-cutting: There are three standard milling machines and six lathes where most of the work can be done. Furthermore there is one CNC lathe and one CNC milling machine which can be used to produce small series or very precise parts.

Sheet metal forming: A plate shear and a bending machine are the main equipment for handling sheet metal. They are used to produce housings for electrical or mechanical appliances.

Welding: The workshop has one set of equipment for autogenous welding which is mostly used for brazing, and two gas-shielded welding machines which can be used for welding stainless steel and aluminium as well. Furthermore there are some other machines for metal working, such as drilling machines, saws or grinding machines.

Electronics: A well-equipped work station allows for efficient development of electronic circuits and enables fast troubleshooting.
